BROOMFIELD, CO - February
26, 2007. Innoprise Software, Inc. today announced that the Town of
Branford, Connecticut, has successfully gone live with four modules of
their Community Development software. The new Building Permits
and Occupational Licenses software replaces the town’s legacy
system. Branford also purchased Permits and Inspections, Planning
and Zoning, as well as and Citizen Access software. Citizen
Access will be implemented in Q2 2008. Branford is located in
Connecticut about 7 miles east of New Haven along the shores of Long
Island Sound. The town provides a variety of services to 29,500
citizens including sewer, paid fire and a large park and recreation
offering.
The town’s prior system was limited in cross-departmental
functionality. Many times a new construction request sat idle due
to a large number of manual processes between Building, Inland Wetland
and Zoning departments. The Innoprise Community Development
solution is enterprise-wide and links information across departments to
streamline new construction requests. Additional departments that are
now linked in addition to the classic Community Development departments
include; waste water, public health and fire.
“The major benefit with Innoprise is our ability to link
departments,” said Peter Hugret, Director of Information Technology for
the town. Now, all of the Community Development departments have
access to information, data is shared between departments, and the
integrated workflow engine manages cross-departmental tasks. The
Citizen Access module will act as a transparent bridge between the
Internet and Branford’s back office system. “With Citizen Access
in place, simple transactions will be available online to provide our
citizens with convenient customer service, 24/7” explains Hugret.
“No longer will applicants for such things as a septic tank pump out
have to come to the Town Hall to obtain a permit. Additionally, instead
of our staff processing the simple tasks at the counter, they can spend
more quality time with the more complex applications where a visit to
the town hall is required,” adds Hugret.
“Another benefit to the new Innoprise system is it’s
intuitiveness, flexibility, and ability to support user-configurable
options. Our employee who processes most of the permits is
finding the single screen she designed, to be very efficient as
compared to the past where she had to constantly flip through screens to
complete a permit,” said Hugret. “The transition from our prior system
to the present was as seamless as they come. This was largely due to
the Innoprise implementation methodology and the commitment of the
Community Development team to make it happen” adds Hugret.
