Town of New Canaan, CT Chooses Financial Management and Community Development Software from Innoprise Software, Inc.™

BROOMFIELD, CO – July 12, 2010. The Town of New Canaan, Connecticut has contracted with Innoprise Software, Inc. for new ERP software that will replace the Town’s current legacy system.  The Town purchased Innoprise Financial Management and Community Development software along with implementation and training services.  New Canaan is comprised of 22.56 square miles and supports a population of approximately 19,952 citizens. 

Chris Kaiser, Director of Information Technology for the Town explains that New Canaan was ready to replace its legacy systems that had been in place for over ten years.  The Town was looking for an enterprise solution that was web-based and was an all in-one package.  The outdated design of these older-generation systems uses a flat file system and required multiple entries of the same data.  “We were tired of having to do double entry and wanted an ERP solution that would take all of our databases and integrate them in to one system, said Kaiser.  By deploying integrated applications that utilize next generation technology, the Town reduces their capital and IT expenses.  “Our new system is all inclusive and additional software for document management, reporting and project tracking are no longer necessary.  Plus, our IT staff won’t have to support administration of multiple databases,” explained Kaiser. 

Innoprise software applications use a true relational database to provide pure integration and data sharing between modules.  Users enter information one time and then the system populates the data across all of its application modules.  All Innoprise applications are simply accessed by a web browser.   Town employees can login in to the financial system with their username and password in the office or remotely using a web-browser and immediately the web pages that they have security to access will be made available. 

Another desired feature for New Canaan is integrated workflow.  The Innoprise workflow engine controls many business processes, such as billing, receivable, cash receipting and collection processes.  This engine, through the configuration of rules and associated actions, allows for flexible approval or revenue collection processes.  “Using Innoprise’s unique workflow capabilities, follow up items can be automatically scheduled and notified via email,” said Kaiser.  Events will be assigned to a department or individual, with the appropriate date.  “Town staff will be notified that they have an event assigned to them via e-mail or the workflow screen,” explained Kaiser.

The tight integration between these Innoprise products has a significant advantage in reducing maintenance, simplifying changes and lowering overall total ownership costs.  “By implementing Innoprise ERP software, New Canaan anticipates improving departmental efficiency by reducing duplicate entry and leveraging productivity gains with the integrated workflow features,” said Kaiser.
