BROOMFIELD, CO - June 24,
2009. The City of McKinney, Texas has contracted with Innoprise
Software, Inc. for new ERP software that will replace the City’s current
systems. The City purchased Innoprise CIS, Community Development,
Financial Management including Payroll and Human Resources software,
along with implementation and training services. The City is located 30
miles north of Dallas and is the county seat of Collin County.
McKinney is one of the fastest-growing cities in the U.S. with a current
population of 121,000.
Don Grammar, Director of Information Technology for the City
explains that McKinney was ready to replace its legacy systems that had
been in place for over fourteen years. The outdated design of these
older-generation systems use a flat file system and drains resources and
IT costs in order to implement system modifications. “Sometimes we
experienced long lead times for seemingly easy changes to the system
with our current system,” explained Grammar. “We also found it
difficult to integrate our existing system with other applications,”
adds Grammar. The open architecture of the Innoprise solution provides
seamless integration to third party applications using the latest
technology advances including web services.
Another business challenge McKinney had with their existing
legacy system was the inability for average end users to obtain data
from the system easily and quickly, therefore the usability of the
Innoprise system was a key attractor for the McKinney team. “All of our
users that had the opportunity to see the system in use were very
impressed with the ease of input and output plus the configurability of
the system at the user level,” explained Grammar.
Grammar explained that Innoprise has the experience and
expertise with legacy systems to ensure the conversion process is
smoother, less time consuming and less painful than any other approach
with more than 60% of their customer base converting from a legacy
system. “We were very impressed with Innoprise, their approach to
customer service and their willingness to work with us on our specific
needs in an enterprise software system,” said Grammar. “By implementing
Innoprise’s ERP software, McKinney anticipates improving departmental
efficiency, lowering integration costs and providing overall
improvements in customer service,” adds Grammar.
