BROOMFIELD, CO - November 12, 2009. The
City of Iowa City, Iowa has contracted with Innoprise Software, Inc. for
new ERP software that will replace the City’s current system that had
been in place since 1982. The City purchased Innoprise CIS,
Community Development, Financial Management including Payroll and Human
Resources software, along with implementation and training services.
Iowa City is the county seat for Johnson County and supports a
population of approximately 62,380 citizens.
The City wanted a financial system that permits remote entry of
requisitions for purchase, purchase orders, picks lists for work orders,
and remote scanning of invoices with electronic approvals and built-in
work flow to manage all of the approval processes and correct approving
people. Iowa City’s current legacy Utility Billing had several
limitations. The ITS group had skillfully stretched the system to
accommodate end-users as much as possible by adding some web enabled
functionalities. Yet, at the same time there is no payment history
screen and an end-user is unable to view incoming payments. Plus, Iowa
City wanted an integrated, real time system.
“The staff that developed our software is retiring this year and next
year, so we recognized that we needed to change this year,” said Kevin
O'Malley, Director of Finance for the City. Iowa City issued a RFP
in June 2009 for a new Finance/HR-PR/Water & Sewer Utility CIS
Systems. “We have been looking for 11 years to find software that
met our expectations both performance and price,” added O'Malley.
The selection process involved further evaluations which included
on-site demonstrations at Iowa City, client reference site visits,
corporate headquarters visits and a pre-fit analysis at which time
Innoprise sent staff to the City to go through the our screens, reports
and system functionality. “The Iowa City selection team was most
impressed with Innoprise’s open architecture and the inherent web
interface,” said O'Malley. “The final element to purchase
Innoprise ERP applications was made after visiting with other Innoprise
cities for their comments and learning the responsiveness of Innoprise
to service calls,” added O'Malley.
